Run without walking any of it.
Let’s talk about a common example
My client Melissa wanted to get a good workout in.
This meant heart-racing, sweat pouring runs.
If she didn’t get home trying to catch her breath, heart beating out of her chest or feeling like she’d never be dry again she might as well not even go out for the run.
The problem was she couldn’t get past a mile without walking.
What the heck?
She keeps trying to push through and make herself do it.
But, that just made her feel like she was gonna puke.
See, it’s not that she couldn't run more than a mile, it’s that she was trying to run too fast.
The body only has so much capacity.
She had 2 choices… she could keep forcing it and over do it and get hurt, or she could slow down and run at a good clip but not so fast that she couldn’t get past a mile.
So how fast is fast but not over doing it?
This will involve slowing it way dow to start and increasing over time, which I go over in another video about the 10% rule. I linked that video in the description.
To run the whole distance without stopping you need to slow down to a pace that you can finish your run at.
To do this pay attention to your legs and your breathing.
Your legs should feel good.
And your breathing should feel comfortable.
If your legs are lead or you can’t catch your breath: SLOW DOWN.
Check in with how you’re feeling every ½ mile.
So if you’re stuck and can’t get past a mile (or another distance) , slow it down.
